Gameplay[ edit ] Disgaea is a tactical role playing game. Battle gameplay takes place on a map divided into a square grid. The player controls a squad of humanoid units and monsters, which each occupy a single square of the grid and do combat with a group of enemies. Depending on the character and attack selected, the player will be able to deal damage to a specific enemy unit or a designated region of the map. Humanoid characters may lift and throw other units across the map in order to allow allies to move further or force enemies to keep their distance.

It is the first entry to the Disgaea series. Players can train their characters to level and deal damage by the millions in the wacky Netherworld that is Disgaea. Two years after the death of his father, Overlord Krichevskoy, the demon prince Laharl awakens to discover that the Netherworld is in turmoil.

With unlikely allies, his devious vassal Etna and the angel trainee Flonne, he must battle his way to supremacy to retake the throne and become the next Overlord. It features a number of bonus features, including a number of new stages and a multiplayer mode. Disgaea DS is a reformatted version of the Playstation Portable game, including the enhancements over the PS2 original copy.

It was released in Status and other information is listed on the second screen with Disgaea DS, making it much easier to follow the flow of the battle by looking at the overview of the battle map or swapping through tabs that keep you organized in play. Also included is stylus control, additional characters, bonus Prinny Commentary, and DS-customized super-hyper "Preview" screens.
